Running
Asher's elephant could tell they were running. The tall grass was flying by, birds were singing, and there were flowers all around. They were running down a small path through a big field. Where were they going and why was Asher running so fast? Asher's sister was several steps ahead of them. All around them butterflies and grasshoppers got out of the way. With the tall grass waving in the wind, it was a little hard to see the path, which was no more than a divide or part among the stalks. They passed a row of potato plants, some blackberry bushes, and then emerged into a lawn of freshly cut grass and clover, like they were in someone's back yard. It wasn't a yard though, neither front nor back, but an open area on either side of a stream. The stream ran swiftly over small rocks and pebbles. Huge walnut trees stood by the steam as though they were cows pausing on a hot day to cool their feet. Asher's sister splashed into the stream, sending sparkling drops of water flying through the air. Asher followed with a splish and a splash; such fun for the first day of June!
